Makalani Holdings is a JSE-listed organisation specialising in mezzanine finance, specifically aimed at BEE transactions and targeted investments. Thesele Group, together with Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), WDB Investment Holdings and Tamela Group, was a founding shareholder in the management company of Makalani. Thesele played a pivotal role in the listing of Makalani Holdings, primarily assisting in positioning the investment scenario to institutional shareholders. Sello Moloko and Thabo Leeuw represented Thesele on the Boards of both Makalani Holdings and Makalani Management Company (“Makalani Manco”) respectively. A key driver to the success of Makalani Holdings is its recognition as a Financial Sector Charter (FSC) compliant entity and Thesele played a critical role in Makalani achieving its FSC accreditation as an empowerment financing vehicle. Following a strategic review by all shareholders of Makalani Manco, we have exited this investment, leaving Rand Merchant Bank as the sole shareholder.
